Ghost River
Row Dante's boat down a haunted river and dodge four kinds of ghosts across nine programming-language hells in this free browser game.
About Ghost River
You are Dante, a developer who died and ended up in Developer's Hell for all those jokes about JavaScript. Guided by your mentor Virgilius Torvalds, you row a small boat down the Acheron river while ghosts fall from above, and one touch costs you one of your three hearts.
Each of the nine levels is a different language hell, from Python and Ruby up to Malbolge, HolyC and COBOL. Ghosts get faster and arrive closer together as you descend, and the four ghost types each move their own way: some fall straight, some slide from wall to wall, some drift toward your boat and some teleport right in front of you before vanishing in smoke.

How to play
Steer the boat left and right at the bottom of the river to avoid every falling ghost. Clear all the ghosts of a level to sail on to the next hell. You have three hearts for the whole journey, so survive all nine levels to earn your redemption.

Tips
- Stay near the middle of the river so you can escape to either side when a ghost lines up with you.
- Ghosts that drift toward your boat can be outrun: wait until they commit, then row hard the other way.
- When a ghost with a curl on its head gets close it teleports right in line with your boat, so be ready to dodge the moment it jumps.
- Sliding ghosts bounce off the banks, so watch which way they are heading before you cross their path.
